Education DG says Johor principal fiasco settled
By Asrul Hadi Abdullah Sani
August 18, 2010KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 18 — Education director-general Tan Sri Alimuddin Mohd Dom said today it was just a misunderstanding — the allegedly offensive remarks by a Johor school principal — and the matter had been resolved.
Siti Inshah Mansor, the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra principal, allegedly said that “Chinese students… can return to China,” and likened Indian prayer strings to dog leashes during school assembly.
Alimuddin denied that the principal has been transferred from the school.
“There is no change, the issue was only a misunderstanding and the problem has been solved between the principal and students,” he told The Malaysian Insider by SMS.
The police are currently investigating the case under Section 504 of the Penal Code for provocation which carries a maximum imprisonment of two years, a fine or both.
A total of 17 complaints have been lodged with the authorities.
Kulai Jaya deputy OCPD Deputy Supt Mohd Kamil Sukarmi told reporters that the police would be calling for the principal’s statement to be recorded today.
On Thursday, the principal had reportedly made the derogatory remarks during the launch of the school’s Merdeka celebrations.
“Chinese students are not needed here and can return to China or Foon Yew schools. For the Indian students, the prayer string tied around their neck and wrist makes them look like dogs because only dogs are tied like that,” Siti Inshah was quoted as saying in at least one police report.
State Education Department deputy director Markom Giran has also said that the principal was on leave pending disciplinary action.
The school administration confirmed with The Malaysian Insider that the principal has been leave since yesterday and is expected to be back by Monday.
Yesterday Lim Kit Siang called on the government to remove the principal and said that she should be severely punished for the offensive remarks allegedly made during a school assembly.
Send racist principal for counselling, says Chua
PETALING JAYA: The MCA wants the school principal who allegedly described her students as penumpang (passengers) in the country to be given a desk job and receive counselling.Party president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek said the racist remark from the principal of a school in Kulaijaya, Johor, was a direct challenge to the basic right of multi-ethnic Malaysians.
“We (MCA) are sad and shocked by the remark and view it very seriously, more so when it happened in a school,” said Dr Chua, who is also Johor MCA chief.
He said transferring the principal was not a solution as it would only shift the problem to another school.
The principal was alleged to have described non-Malays as penumpang in the country during her speech at the start of the Merdeka celebration last Thursday.
A 17-year-old student, Brevia Pan, told a press conference that the principal had told non-Malay students to go study in a Chinese school or go back to China.
Kulaijaya Deputy OCPD Deputy Supt Mohd Kamil Sukarmi said the case was being investigated and that 17 reports had been lodged so far.
The secondary school principal, meanwhile, was jeered when she tried to apologise for her allegedly racist remark during an assembly.
The principal was forced to leave the assembly area at least twice in front of state education department officials, teachers, parents and students here yesterday.
Many parents want the woman to be removed from the school and face disciplinary action as she had caused tension among the students and teachers.
The school, which has about 2,200 students and 150 teachers, comprised about 40% non-Malays.
Deputy Education Minister Dr Puad Zarkashi said he had spoken to the state education director, who informed him that it was a misunderstanding and the issue had been resolved with the principal apologising and visiting all the classrooms to explain the situation.

Police question woman over alleged racist remarks
KULAIJAYA: The principal who allegedly used racist remarks against non-Malay students has gone on leave voluntarily and police have recorded statements from teachers and students of the school here.Kulaijaya deputy OCPD Deputy Supt Mohd Kamil Sukarmi said police would be calling the principal for her statement to be recorded today.
“We hope to wrap up our investigation soon,” he said, adding that the probe was being carried out under Section 504 of the Penal Code for provocation which carries a maximum imprisonment of two years, a fine or both.
Meanwhile, State Education De part ment deputy director Markom Giran who visited the school confirmed that the principal was on leave pending disciplinary action.
“We have also issued a directive to all teachers and principals in the state education department not to give their personal views on politics and sensitive issues,” he told reporters after a closed-door meeting with Kulai MP Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting and Kulai district education officials at SMK Temenggung Abdul Rahman Putra yesterday.
Ong said he had spoken to several students and also studied the reports made by their parents.
It was reported on Monday that police were investigating a school principal for allegedly using racist remarks against non-Malay students during the launch of the school’s Merdeka celebrations on Aug 12.
About 50 parents and students had lodged reports against the principal who allegedly described the non-Malays as penumpang (passengers) in the country during her speech at the start of the celebrations.
Meanwhile, Johor NUTP secretary Tay Meng Seng said the union viewed the matter very seriously.
Tay added that NUTP would leave it to the police and state education department to carry out their investigations.

wah lau! like that also can? she can talk racist things and insult ppl but it’s only a misunderstanding?
i remember teresa kok last time kena detain in isa for several days coz a newspaper reported something that she didnt even say in the first place, and it’s not even insulting anyone or anything!
ptui la! 1Malaysia, 2 Sets of Law
This is seriously WTF!?
With all the racist talk and expect to be dismiss it with just “misunderstanding”?
Why don’t they EDG say that she was just joking?
Especially a person with her position.. She should be sack at the very least.
Well said.. 1Malaysia, 2 Sets of Law..
I wonder what kind of ‘action’ the police and the Education Ministry will take, and what kind of ‘investigation’.
She uttered those words in front of everyone during assembly; everyone heard what she said.
The very fact that she is a headmistress makes this even sadder. Of all the people, the one who are supposed to nurture the next generation of Malaysians turned out to be a bigot.
Malaysia memang boleh!
try talking bad about malays… find urself surrounded by police and bringing u to lock ups in a matter of hours
WTF! This is soooo unfair~!! Bring her to ISA~!
Everyone cool down. There is nothing to react nor shout about just a small misunderstand. We have to forget and forgive them. As we unable to blame some one who is more inferior in education, wisdom, IQ, EQ.. in every way. Just like we can’t get angry over a dog bark for no reason. [ Disclaimer: I am NOT indicate the principal is dog. not to "misunderstanding"].
Malaysia struggle real hard to put a place in this world. For example, building the twin tower, putting an astronaut in the space…etc. Please dont make this issue big, so the world may look at the reality of racist government, incompetence of the leader and the naive of the so call earthling citizen. After all, we always provide the most useless kid at home.
Just simply the word “chinese student… can return to china”. Hmm… this command just to show the principal is a toad in a well. Obviously she have not set foot in china for the past 20yrs. Ai…pity!
The only worry I have. children are the future of the country. I feel sorry for all the student in the school that lead by such a useless, incompetent, and stupid principal. Imagine, the future of Malaysia.
I was sent over sea for education at very young age. Now i really thanks my parent even more. With this remark by THE principal of a school and yet the education department just say that is a ‘misunderstanding’. this kind of educational system… Malaysia really boleh!!!
I honestly love Malaysia. That is why I am back here. But some time, it is the ’superior’ race that disgrace Malaysia itself. I sincerely urge the Malaysian government look into this issue and really build a solid educational system and a better future Malaysia.
Happy national day.
juz kick the stupid bitch’z head with kung fu style hange her with indian prayer strings in front of the community as same as what they are are doig now in arab countries, pakistan, all the tan – tan countries ( eh.. tan is chinese name rite…)

Nothing will happen-lah. PM’s wife can blow up Mongolian women and nothing happens,, you think some action will be taken over this small matter. Slap on the hand is the most she’ll get. Makes me want to puke.
Hang the lady…as her to stand on her knee everyday infront of indian and chinese temple. All of us should pist on her face.
As much as I dislike this woman for bringing shame to an honorable vocation, I strongly disagree with your comment.
What she did was an insult to her profession, and the students of her school but why call for her to be hanged or kneel in Chinese and Indian temples? In this case, she is attacking the races of the student, not the religion.
There is a time for corporal punishment and this is not it.
i wonder if she has got to do with all the arson attacks? haihz.. sad to hear all these when i am starting to love Malaysia more.
This racist remark and only a misunderstanding??? no wonder 1malaysia will never be a reality..
racist …more like a personal issue here..she was suppose to be the example followed by the students..with this kinda of speech for a morning school assembly every single day..its enough to brainwash anyone to think that way..make the Chinese and Indians students that they do not belong here..great ..word of the day “MISUNDERSTANDING”
1masyarakat 1 Malaysia~~~ mana pergi??? Merdeka??? Brain Wash Day After Tomorrow?? Memang BOLEH? NAHH!!! Suck Pisang~~~
Walau. MCB lor. It’s a missunderstanding???? WTF!
That bitch headmaster made it so clear that both the other two racie are ‘pendatang asing’. And all these are just missunderstanding????
Honestly, this is so gad damn not fair at all. At least the “ahem” should give that bitch “something” so that it will not create another “not-fair” situation towards the other races! If this continues, other race will lost trust towards this country!
I personally felt really dissapointed with this whole situation! Really, like if that bitch headmaster is infront of me, i will call her balik indon.
i can’t believe a principal would actually said such racist remark..let alone in the month of merdeka…a disgrace indeed to the country..haiz.
stern punishment should be meted out for such irresponsible act!
What is more sickening is that she tainted this month by uttering these words during the 2nd day of puasa AND during the opening of the Merdeka day celebration.
Like Namewee sang in his new song, suck banana la Siti
I think the worst part of this ordeal is that she has created a new generation of future racists. Bumiputra students will grow up with the “non-bumi’s are outsiders mentality” while non-bumiputra students will resent her and eventually grow up to resent other bumi’s as well even though they do not share her belief. Conventional punishments will not undo the harm caused here. If she wants to make up for her mistakes, she should be responsible of re-educating the students on the abstinence of racism.
The time of finger pointing has past! We want action!
siti inshah, if chinese needs to go back china, and indians need to be dogs in this country, u can be a wantan. and pls, if chinese go back china, ur dead, prepare for nuclear missiles. even dogs will bite u to death.
ps. u can go back to ur racist country which i presume it is next to hell
Malaysian citizen already PEACE for racism for 20++ years, now she want to start again.what wrong with she?this case should put she in the jail at least 5 years to let her think in the cell more carefull to what she spoke.her words are very hurt to chinese and indian races.
Can i say that Namewee oso joking!!??
Maybe it is also misunderstanding from Namewee? lol
Awesome video from namewee..
You all know what ? they said this is malays country they can say what ever they like.. malays special right ma? you all dont know meh? hahaha
welcome to bolehland.. they got brain wash by BTN la..
terlalu lama tinggal dalam BTN..
this principal and other racist malays are product of BTN. our DPM also said he is malays first and malaysia second, remember? You chinese and indian still put malaysia in first place?why dont we chinese and indian also put malaysia in last place?
wa like that also can she can talk racist things and insult ppl but it’s only a misunderstanding?
This is soooo unfair diu o0o
This is all we need in Malaysia education. Not only we have a dumb ass principle we have another doggy Education director. Maybe she is his wife? I won’t know, too many bigamy with them.
Namewee: if police wants to talk to you. Just say this: Oh….it is just a misunderstanding.
If the event of the racist statement were true, I really am enraged. No person in education should utter irresponsibly. I understand why Malaysians are upset – myself, a halfie included. However, to respond with profanity (calling her a B) & violent proposals of punishment do not make us any better than her. Though I appreciate everyone’s comments, I feel that more tact is needed in conveying our thoughts. Sometimes, it’s less of what we say, rather, HOW we say it
Siti Inshah Mansor–her ass should be so FIRED…on the 1st day of Hari Raya!!! Stupid Malay Bitch! Hahaha…
